9 September — Meeting with Dr. Uma Ambi, who above all shared with the seminarians the spiritual experiences of her life.

Summary of her tale prepared by the spiritual director. There are three realities of life: 1. Mind, 2. Body, 3. Spirit. These three interact with each other. Mental (psyche) perception affects spirituality (spirit). Spirituality affects mental perception that produces bodily manifestations.

She used the Gospel text from Luke 14, 25-33 on Discipleship. How the disciples persevered following Jesus, affected their mental choices. Two perceptions of Discipleship in the text:

1. As DEPRIVATION – i.e., giving up relations and possessions;
2. As BLESSING you give up in order to receive something better.

What Dr Ambi is saying: 1. Mental perception affects our choices and consequently our spirituality; 2. Blessed are the pure of heart (mind); they will see God.

She encouraged seminarians to choose making their mind (mental health) pure so that their spirituality would grow and mature to be capable of choosing and living a holy life (spirit).
