3 May — At the conclusion of their Annual General Meeting, the bishops of the diocese of PNG celebrated the Eucharist at the Holy Spirit Seminary Church and had dinner with the priests and seminarians.

8-19 May — We had the short holidays break after the first term. The major part of the seminarians went to the communities of the Bereina diocese: Yule Island, Waima, Inauaia, and Rapa. The Vincentian priests working in the seminary had the annual retreat facilitated by Bishop Roland Santos CM at Tawali in the diocese of Alotau.

Emeritus Archbishop Brian in his latter years was resident in the Diocese of Parramatta and was known to a number of clergy and people in the Diocese.
Brian James Patrick Barnes was born at Wingham in New South Wales on 23rd March 1933 to Arthur Keith Barnes (28/05/1986) and Eileen Barnes (nee Whereat, 9/02/1988). He joined the Order of Friars Minor (Franciscans) in 1951 and was first professed on 18th February 1952. He was ordained a priest on 12th July, 1958.
As Father Brian Barnes, he was appointed to the mission of Papua New Guinea (PNG) in October 1959. More...
